Music and Arts
The Mid-South is a fantastic place, rich in different genres of artistic disciplines and famous blues, rock-n-roll and country music schools. The Memphis area holds great opportunities to develop contacts, business and cultural relations for artists to express themselves in this unique creative community. There are possibilities to participate in various Programs, as follows:
- • Meetings with artists and musicians in different schools of Memphis and Nashville, TN;
- • Create joint activities with artists and musicians from different schools of Memphis and Nashville, TN in various performances and exhibits;
- • Language Upgrading Program.
Roann Mathias (pictured) is a mixed media artist who has specialized in calligraphy since 1980. After receiving a masters degree in Art History, she began designing greeting cards, stationery and calendars for The Printery House of Conception Abbey. She has also designed cards for Cleo, Expressions Greetings, Abbey Press and DaySpring. Her work has been published in Letter Arts Review and Somerset Studio Magazine. Roanns calligraphy has been exhibited at the Newberry Library in Chicago, and the first AlphaMark show. Recently, Roann has taught workshops at the mixed media conference Art Unraveled in Phoenix. She has also led workshops for the calligraphy guilds of Milwaukee, Colorado Springs, New Orleans and Little Rock. Over the years she has studied with nationally recognized teachers including Sheila Waters, Thomas Ingmire, Marsha Brady, Reggie Ezell, Lisa Engelbrecht, Denis Brown and Sharon Zeugin.
